Samsung's was the most ergonomic; Sharp's was bland; but aesthetic-wise we were appalled that Sony KDL-40W2000's remote control even got past the drawing board.

After the initial setup, the on-screen menu is most often used to change external input source so a speedy navigation is highly desirable. Sony's was the most responsive, with Samsung's coming in a close second. Sharp's was frustratingly sluggish.

The Samsung LE40F71B was completely out of contention – it didn't even have a digital tuner to begin with. Sony KDL-40W2000's blurry EPG lacking in live preview meant that Sharp LC-42XD1E's offering – although cartoonish – grabbed top spot.
