Despite some aggressive branding exercise recently (LG Prada mobile phone anyone?), as a consumer electronics conglomerate LG has found it difficult to shake off its budget image: one who delivers more "value-for-money" than actual quality.
The same applies within the HDTV flat panel arena. Speak to any home theatre enthusiast worth his/ her salt, and you'll scarcely hear the name "LG" being mentioned. Want an LCD? "Get a Sony Bravia". Buying a plasma? "Fujitsu and Pioneer". But LG? "Isn't it for those who can't afford better TVs?"
But we at HDTVTest are an unbiased bunch. Regardless of what reputation precedes any HDTV we review, we evaluate each HDTV on its own merit, giving it every fair opportunity to impress (or disappoint) us. Today we're going to look at the LG 42LF65, their latest 42-inch full HD LCD TV.
