32C3030D & TX32LXD70 Arrived

3030d-vs-lxd70

So far all the HDTVs we’ve reviewed are 40 inches and above, so we thought that we would test a couple of 32″ LCD TVs for a change.

In March 2007, 2 Japanese electronic giants rolled out their products in this hotly contested market segment: Toshiba 32C3030D replacing the ever-so-popular 32WLT66; Panasonic TX32LXD70 succeeding the highly-acclaimed TX32LXD70. Both are HD ready, and feature a native resolution of 1366 x 768, DVB Freeview tuner and two HDMI inputs.

And both arrived today… just when Colin and I were starting to twiddle our thumbs. We’ll first test the Toshiba 32C3030D, and then the Panasonic TX32LXD70, culminating in a 32″ LCD TV head-to-head shootout between these 2 models.

For those who are waiting for the new Samsung M86 / M87 review, don’t worry – we’ve placed an order and one’s on the way…

  1. Ah ha! Good news about the M86 / M87 review, look forward to that – will be interested in this review on the smaller sets also!

  2. Looking forward for the M86/87 test, special if it handles normal tv/cable content good :)

I’m glad that you touched the 32″ sector. Many people around still can’t afford 40″ (and over) – space and money wise. Maybe it’s unfair head-to-head battle, as Toshiba 32WLT68 is probably more appropriate rival for the TX32LXD70, when we consider the major features (and market positions itself). Actually, I was secretly hoping that WLT68 will end up in your hands … but hey :-)

  4. Can’t wait for these reviews, especially the Panasonic. This has to be the best web site for HDTV reviews, so in-depth and just what is needed. Keep up the good work guys and any chance you can review the TX32LXD700 when it is finally released?

  5. please review the 42″ version of the toshiba cos my girlfriend loves it but i want the pioneer 427oxd……her only concern is the sound quality which i believe the pioneer wins hands down! tell me if i wrong, plus i prefer plasma for sport and films….. i work at a currys store and for as long as i can remember the pioneers have always looked the best, whatever the source.

  6. oh yeah i agree with alan this has been the best site i found so far for tv reviews… you boys know what you are on about

  7. Great site. I don’t think I trust anyone else now. Love to know what you think of the LXD70. From time spent with it at shops I’d say it was the best 32″ ever. I know Panasonic have a lot a stake with their plasma business but if they went all out on LCD I reckon they’d topple even Sony.

  8. We’ve been a little distracted by the Samsung M86, but we’ve not forgotten about the Panasonic. What I think of the LXD70?…mmm and nods approvingly :)

Review will be out pretty soon.

  9. You tease us Colin! Half a LXD70 review! I await the rest with excitement…
