LG Electronics has embarked on a nationwide tour to give the UK public a taste of their 3D TV technology (including 2D-to-3D conversion), following in the footsteps of fellow Korean TV manufacturer Samsung Electronics who started holding roadshows in a number of cities and shopping malls around the United Kingdom to demonstrate its internet-enabled HDTV models earlier this month.
LG’s 3D TV tour involves the company setting up demonstration booths in shopping centres and entertainment outlets at different dates across various English cities. Each demonstration booth takes the form of an interactive living area – dubbed a “Life’s Good Lounge” – complete with an oversized sofa for the entire family, complimentary popcorn, and of course the relevant LG 3D devices, so that consumers can envision how 3D technology is going to function in the comfort of their homes.
LG HDTVs to be showcased in the “Life’s Good” tour include the LG 47LD950 passive 3D LCD TV, the LG 42LX6900 active 3D TV, the LG 50PX990 3D plasma TV, and the LG 47LX9900 3D LED TV. Visitors to the LG lounge can play 3D games and watch 3D programmes on these 3D TVs, not to mention consult LG’s slipper-wearing “brand ambassadors” on the company’s products and 3DTV technology.
The first Life’s Good Lounge for the company’s 3D TV tour this year was launched at the Westfield Shopping Centre in Shepherd’s Bush London last weekend. Coinciding with the UK release of Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows: Part 1, LG arranged for seven Harry Potter lookalikes to turn up at the launch, who tried their hands at 3D gaming, and enjoyed some Sky 3D content on the LG 3DTV displays.
The subsequent dates and venues for the LG 3D TV tour are as follows:
- 26th to 28th of November: Trafford Centre in Manchester;
- 3rd to 5th of December: The Centre: MK in Milton Keynes;
- 10th to 12th of December: The Bullring in Birmingham;
- 17th to 19th of December: Bluewater in Kent;
- 27th to 30th of December: AMC Cinema in Birmingham;
- 2nd to 5th of January 2011: BFI IMAX Cinema in South Bank, London;
- 12th to 16th of January 2011: AMC Cinema in Manchester.
