Panasonic Outs VT30, GT30 & ST30 Range Of 2nd-Gen 3D Plasma TVs At CES

Panasonic has unveiled its second generation of Viera 3D plasma TV displays at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2011 in Las Vegas today, namely the entry-level Panasonic ST30 series, the mid-range Panasonic GT30 series, and the flagship Panasonic VT30 series. At a press conference held at the Venetian hotel, the Japanese TV manufacturer claimed that its new line of plasma 3D TVs boasts a number of improvements over last year’s models which were already critically acclaimed.

This time last year, the Panasonic VT25 3D TV was crowned the “Best Of Show Product” at CES 2010. Not resting on their laurels, Panasonic engineers have sought to improve the picture quality on the new 2011 3D HDTV models even further through the following means:

  • Reducing crosstalk with an updated video processing circuitry;
  • Achieving deeper blacks using Infinite Black Pro 2 plasma panels with lower precharge, as well as better ambient light filters; and
  • Boosting light output by up to 30% – necessary to counter the darkening effects of 3D glasses – by increasing the luminous efficiency of the plasma cells (which also happens to reduce energy consumption).

  1. No, it’s actually Infinite Black 2, without the ‘Pro’.
    I expect it will be quite similar in performance as last year’s Infinite Black Pro.

  2. Ah indeed :)

  3. i cant wait to see one in action as i have just returned my txp50vt20ba due many little problems making me very unhappy with it phospher trails being the worst i hope the new fast phosphers are much better. my money will just have to stay in my pocket untill they come out.come on spring.if they are no good i will have to go with samsung.

  4. I just got the P50VT20 and I am stunned comparing to my previous ledtv which was not so good at all.

  5. The VT30 series are also available in 42 and 50 inch, according to the Dutch Panasonic website.

  6. I am INFURIATED that Panasonic has the best plasma TV on the market, yet they ran out early of the VT-25 65 inch, and even though they once again have a winner in the vt-30, it is IMPOSSIBLE to get one!!!!!!!! I’m being told by virtually every source that the 65 inch won’t be available until MAY!! That is ASSININE! What a poor business decision to not pull out all the stops and get these things in the stores, they are losing sales daily because sooner or later people who would buy the Panasonic are defaulting to other models.

  7. Very true Scott. I worked in Panasonic Store in Croydon over the Xmas period & it was near impossible to get a 65″ VT20. Many customers, I know, went elsewhere & usually ended up buying inferior televisions!

  8. I have heard due to the earthquake in Japan the Panasonic factories were damaged badly and we are looking at July-August for these to hit the US/CND market.

  9. The factories were not damaged in the earthquakes. All models are now in stores in your area.

  10. Panasonic marketing is the worst by far of any electronics company i know of. They can’t get product out in time and often have short supply. I waited almost 6 months for their Lumix GH2 camera to become available and finally gave up and bought a Canon…..

  11. in india panasonic 50 inch vt 20 is also availble in plasma in samsung with additional features and 30% cheaper Can some body give his valued opinion which is a better buy and why . Iam totally cofused

  12. Panasonic VT When will it be released in the uk? Im after the 46″

  13. How do you tell if it is a 2010 model or a 2011 model?
