Audio specialist Denon has announced a new AVR receiver that’s slated to become available next year. The Denon AVR-X6800H will become one of the company’s newest flagship models.

Going by the number and the features that were mentioned, it seems a sure bet that the Denon AVR-X6800H will replace last year’s X6700H, becoming the second-most expensive and capable AV receiver in its lineup.

The earlier model was known as the Denon AVR-X6700H globally, though in the U.K. and Europe it was known as the AVC-X6700H. It’s likely that Denon will continue this trend, so in those regions the new model will probably be known as the Denon AVC-X6800H.

Denon said the new receiver will pack plenty of feature improvements. Designed and built in Japan, it will offer 11.4 channels instead of the 11.2 channels supported by the X6700H, together with 11 x 140 watts amplification. Moreover, it will retain high-end features such as Audyssey room correction, which optimizes the sound outputted from multiple speakers based on the shape of the room. Dolby Atmos will also be supported, alongside other surround sound formats such as IMAX Enhanced, Auro-3D and DTS:X.

In terms of video, the Denon AVR-X6800H will support high dynamic range formats such as Dolby Vision, HDR10+, HDR10, HLG and Dynamic HDR. There will be seven HDMI ports in total, with two of them supporting 8K video resolution. In addition, one of the HDMI outputs will support ARC and eARC connectivity, Denon said.

Because it’s a higher-end product, the Denon AVR-X6800H will support next-generation gaming features such as Variable Refresh Rates and Auto Low-Latency Mode, enabling games consoles like the Xbox Series X and S, and the PlayStation 5 display graphics as smoothly as it’s possible to do.

In addition, Denon said the AVR-X6800H will support HEOS, a proprietary wireless feature that enables communication for streaming music to compatible speakers located in various rooms around the house.

Denon said the AVR-X6800H will be priced at around $3,500 in the U.S., which translates to around £2,790 in U.K. prices. The company has yet to confirm an exact release date, merely saying that it is “coming soon”. Most likely, it will launch in 2024.
