The Disney+ app has finally landed on Panasonic’s smart TVs from 2017 and onwards, giving owners of those televisions access to the popular streaming service of the same name.

Disney+ is the number one place to go for anything to do with the Walt Disney Company, with movies and shows made by Disney, plus its brands Pixar, Marvel and National Geographic. Disney also owns the Star Wars brand and hence, the rights to its entire catalogue of films, as well as The Simpsons and much more besides.

The app was already available on TVs sold by the likes of Samsung, LG, Sony and Philips so Panasonic was seen as a bit of a hold out, but that’s no longer the case. From today, the Disney+ app will be available on all Panasonic TVs that run the company’s My Home Screen operating system, visible within the Application view.

The Disney+ service is an alternative and a rival to the likes of Netflix and Amazon Prime, currently costing £7.99 per month or £79.90 per year for an annual subscription. For that price, subscribers will be able to access an array of exclusive originals, including new feature-length films, documentaries, live-action and animated series, Disney promises.

Most of Disney+’s content is available in 4K HDR with Dolby Atmos, so subscribers will enjoy high quality streams that promise to showcase the very best capabilities of Panasonic TVs such as its new flagship model, the Panasonic JZ2000

Other useful features in Disney+ include support for multiple user profiles, the ability to watch four streams simultaneously, subtitles in multiple languages, downloads for offline viewing, parental controls and a totally ad-free experience.

In select international markets including the U.K., Disney+ also provides access to content from Star, which is home to a selection of titles from Disney Television Studios, 20th Century Studios, FX, Searchlight Pictures and more.

Panasonic said the Disney+ app is coming to its TVs in the UK, Ireland, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Belgium, Netherlands, Luxemburg, Norway, Finland, Denmark, Sweden, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, Canada and Latin America/ The app will be available on all 4K TVs running the My Home Screen OS with product prefixes EZ, EX, FZ, FX, GZ, GX, HZ, HX, JZ and JX from today, it said.
