There’s still a few weeks to go until the season to be jolly gets into full swing, but terrestrial TV broadcaster Freeview is already in a festive mood. Its just launched its “Mega Christmas Countdown” competition, where it will give away a free, Panasonic 4K smart TV to one lucky consumer every day in the run up to Christmas Day. 

The competition, basically a raffle that’s open to all Freeview customers, runs from December 2 until December 25, and each day one lucky winner will be selected at random to receive a free, 49-inch Panasonic 2019 LED HDR 4K Ultra HD TV. Although a little on the small size perhaps (for some), the TV is nonetheless a pretty decent one with “impressive picture quality, vibrant colours and a detailed display”, Freeview assures us. 

Of course, the TV also comes with Freeview built-in, which means viewers have access to more than 20,000 hours of on-demand content from major U.K. broadcasters, in addition to services such as Amazon Prime Video, Netflix and YouTube. 

But the TV is only a part of the deal, for each day’s lucky winner will also be entered into a “Grand Draw” for the ultimate prize – a 10 day road trip in a Ford Mustang convertible down the West Coast of the United States that will provide a “once in a lifetime opportunity to explore the breathtaking California coastline”. 

The prize includes flights for two people from the U.K. to San Francisco, and return flights from San Diego to home. The 10-day hire of the Mustang convertible is also included, as well as 10 nights staying in 4-star hotels along one of two routes – either the Pacific Coast Highway or Highway 51 – plus visa fees and a £150.00 petrol allowance. 

Of course you’ll still need to bring some spending money to enjoy some of the breathtaking destinations you’ll pass by on the way, with stops at Yosemite National Park, Big Sur, Santa Monica and the city of Los Angeles some of the likely highlights.
