LG Electronics appears to have accidentally leaked details of its 2022 OLED TV lineup, with the biggest revelations being its apparent confirmation of a new 42-inch LG C2 model and a bigger, 83-inch version of its gallery TV, the LG G2. 

The model names were spotted by HDTVTest reviewer Vincent Teoh in Korea’s Radio Research Agency certification database. That the models have been submitted there means they have officially applied for radio certification in South Korea, meaning their existence is all but confirmed. 

Some crafty Googling by Teoh provided more evidence, with a number of product pages now taken offline but still viewable through a cached version of LG’s Korean language website. 

So it seems LG is planning to replace this year’s A1, B1, C1 and G1 models with a new lineup – the LG A2, B2, C2 and G2. It’s likely the LG C2 will become the best-selling OLED television in the world next year, Teoh said, because it has always traditionally been the company’s most affordable full-featured OLED model and receives the highest priority in terms of firmware updates. 

According to the leaked files, the LG C2 range will be available in various sizes spanning 42-inches at the lower end, all the way up to 83-inches at the max. Unless, there’s a surprise in store somewhere, of course. LG has previously been rumoured to be developing a 97-inch OLED display but no evidence of such a TV has emerged thus far. 

The 42-inch size displays are brand new, and are likely to have big appeal for games console players who struggle to fit a 48-inch OLED TV into their bedrooms, for example. 

The other interesting tidbit is the apparent existence of an 83-inch LG G2 model. Last year’s LG G1 series maxed out at just 77-inches. 

Of course, there are still lots of unknowns surrounding LG’s 2022 OLED TV lineup – it’s not clear yet, for example, which models will get the improved OLED Evo panel or what capabilities LG’s next-generation silicon might deliver, for example. LG is of course, also expected to release at least one 8K OLED model, as it has done in the previous couple of years, but there has been no leaked information regarding that TV so far. 

It also remains to be seen how LG will market this year’s breed of OLED TVs in light of the fact that its arch-rival Samsung Electronics is also expected to announce its first-ever OLED models in 2022, based on a newer technology known as QD-OLED. 

In any case we won’t have long to wait, with LG expected to officially announce its full 2022 OLED TV lineup at the Consumer Electronics Show in January.
