Harry Kane may have saved England yesterday, but TP Vision is planning to save TV audio by partnering with legendary British audio brand Bowers & Wilkins (B&W) to develop the sound system on new Philips premium OLED televisions going forward.

TP Vision is the exclusive licensee for Philips TV in the UK and Europe, having released a number of critically-acclaimed OLED TVs including the Philips 9002 based on the company's award-winning P5 picture processing engine, not to mention Ambilight integrated bias lighting system for which Philips TVs are renowned. The multi-year exclusive partnership between TP Vision and Bowers & Wilkins will hopefully yield a long series of groundbreaking displays that will scale audio-visual heights never seen before in the television sector.

Key to the partnership is both companies' long-lasting tradition for bespoke in-house technological developments, maintaining complete quality control over all stages of product development and manufacturing. Philips' video and motion processing plus Ambilight technology require no further introduction, whereas B&W's in-house R&D department is committed to achieving the best sound quality possible regardless of format.

Clearly excited by the new partnership, TP Vision's CMO Martijn Smelt commented, "For far too long, as an industry, we have allowed sound quality to be the poor relation when considering TV performance. TP Vision will unveil the first Philips OLED television to feature B&W's audio engineering expertise at the IFA Berlin consumer electronics trade show in September.
