Panasonic’s first OLED TVs for 2022 have finally gone on sale in the U.K., Germany and other European nations, providing an alternative to models from the likes of LG Electronics, Philips, Sony and others that hit the shops earlier in the year. 

Panasonic’s new LZ OLED TVs feature LG Display’s most advanced OLED.EX display, with the most premium versions also offering a more advanced heatsink that enables improved brightness compared to other OLED models. 

The lineup is expanding from what was on offer last year too, with Panasonic offering sizes that range from 42-inches all the way up to 77-inches. The LZ series OLED TVs replace last year’s JZ range. 

Panasonic confirmed earlier this year when it first unveiled its new TVs that all of the OLED models will use LG’s OLED.EX display technology, which provides better energy efficiency and improved brightness compared to standard OLED panels. In addition, the most premium models - the Panasonic LZ200, LZ1500 and LZ1000 - also come equipped with a heatsink that helps to dissipate heat and improve the overall brightness. Note however, that it’s not included on the two smallest models - namely the 42-inch and 48-inch versions. 

IN HDTVTest’s review of the 65-inch Panasonic LZ2000, it was found to be even brighter than rival models such as the LG G2 and the Sony A95K QD-OLED TVs. 

The flagship Panasonic LZ2000 also comes with a 5.1.2 channel Dolby Atmos speaker system that includes up-firing and side-firing speakers, and is available in 77-inches for the first time. For those who don’t require such an advanced sound system, the LZ1500 may be a better option as it still comes with the same custom-tuned OLED panel that Panasonic is renowned for, though there is no 77-inch option for this model. 

The Panasonic LZ1000 is a midrange model that lacks the panel customization, while the entry-level LZ980 and LZ800 OLED TVs do not come with the heatsink and are therefore, less brighter. 

Other features included on all models include the HCX Processor Pro AI, two HDMI 2.1 ports that support 4K at 120Hz and Variable Refresh Rate, a new 60Hz Refresh Mode for lower input lag in 60Hz console games, the “Game Control Board” gaming menu that provides quick access to relevant gaming settings, Filmmaker Mode and the My Home Screen 7.0 operating system. 

Panasonic’s OLED lineup is going on sale in Europe now, though the 42-inch and 77-inch models won’t arrive for a few more weeks.
