TCL has announced the widespread availability of its new QM8, Q7 and Q6 QLED LCD TVs in the U.S. The new models were first announced at CES 2023 in January, and represent a change in TCL’s lineup structure, with its high-end and mid-range TVs now belonging to the Q series and entry-level offerings in a new S series.

The company said the QM8 (pictured), Q7 and Q6, which are also known as the QM850G, Q750G and Q650G, will be available in a range of sizes up to a maximum of 98-inches. They all have 4K resolution, as the company opted against launching another 8K TV this year.

The flagship TCL QM8 QLED is a Mini-LED TV with up to 2,300 local dimming zones in the 98-inch model, which should ensure it compares well with the very best Neo QLED TVs from Samsung Electronics, and Nano TVs from LG Electronics. TCL also claims extremely high brightness of up to 2,000 nits.

TCL North America Senior Vice President Chris Hamdorf said the new TVs continue to set the bar as they refine several key enhancements pioneered by the company. “With TCL’s immersive extra-large screens and higher resolution content, consumers can replicate the same cinematic field of view found in theaters without worrying about viewing distance,” he said. “Whether it’s movies, sports, shows, or video games, TCL is poised and motivated to make TVs that will meet everyone’s entertainment needs,"

The TCL Q7 QLED does not have a Mini-LED display but still offers up to 200 local dimming zones in the largest model. Both the QM8 and the Q7 feature a 240Hz variable refresh rate mode, called Game Accelerator 240 that’s available at half vertical resolution, even though the panels are only 120Hz.

As for the TCL Q6 QLED, this is a mid-range model without any dimming zones, but it can also run at 120Hz VRR at half vertical resolution. All three models run the Google TV platform, a change from last year’s equivalent models, which ran the Roku operating system.

The TCL QM8 is available now in 65-, 75-, and 85-inch sizes, with the 98-inch model to go on sale later in the year. The Q7 and Q6 can both be had now in a choice of 55-, 65-, 75- and 85-inch sizes.
