Ambitious Chinese TV brand TCL has named Tottenham Hotspur centre forward and England captain Harry Kane as its new European Brand Ambassador.
The partnership will see Kane spearhead fast-growing TCL’s online and offline marketing efforts, with the company promising to create lots of exclusive content featuring the Spurs hero.
TCL said in a press release that it timed the announcement to coincide with the recent restart of this season’s Premier League football campaign, at a time when the company is strengthening its position as a leading global brand in the TV industry.
TCL has a history of selecting football stars to represent its brand, having previously chosen Brazil and Paris Saint-Germain striker Neymar as its global ambassador.
The choice of Kane as TCL’s European ambassador underpins the firm's strong position in consumer electronics, especially in the TV industry. It said that Kane’s game-changing leadership qualities and its own philosophy of “Display Greatness” dovetail perfectly with one another. TCL said it retains full control over the entire production process of its TVs to ensure the highest level of technical innovation and bring its products to market at an affordable price.
TCL said the partnership with Kane will last until July 2021, and that the Spurs striker will create exclusive content for it in the form of live appearances at special events, and behind the scenes footage that will be shared across social media.
TCL said its Android TVs and soundbars are ideal choices for viewers that want to immerse themselves in live football matches, though those aren’t the only products that Kane will promote. He will also endorse TCL’s new 10 Series smartphones and various home appliances the company makes.
“I am thrilled to be working alongside the TCL EU team,” Kane said. “During these uncertain times, it’s great to be working with a brand that is committed to quality, excellence and in delivering great, positive experiences for fans.”
“We are thrilled to work with Harry, who represents the highest calibre of English football, continuing our commitment to great sport and entertainment here in the U.K.,” added Bernie Chen, TCL’s U.K. country manager.
