The popular Chinese budget projector brand is adding three new projectors to its lineup in China, and we’re confident that they could soon find their way onto global markets. They were announced on the Chinese language platform Weibo, and include the Dangbei C5 Pro and the Dangbei C5 Ultra, as well as the R3 Ultra Max.
With the launch, Dangbei is giving fans of the big screen a wide range of options to fit various budgets, and the good news is all three look pretty capable.
NotebookCheck provides quite a bit of detail about the cheapest of the three, the Dangbei C5 Pro, noting that it’s positioned as a very affordable device for bedrooms and night time home theatres. But it’s also pretty portable, given its compact form factor – like the other two, in fact.
Specifications-wise, the C5 Pro is capable of 600 CVIA lumens brightness, and delivers a 1080p resolution image at a maximum size of 150-inches. There’s no mention of the device’s refresh rate, which leads us to suspect that it’s only 60Hz rather than 120Hz, despite having a dedicated “Game Mode.”
The device is powered by MediaTek’s MT9669 chipset, and it has 1GB of RAM and 32GB of storage, while connectivity options include USB ports, HDMI 2.0, plus WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, DLAN, AirPlay and Miracast. The audio is likely to be pretty punchy though, because Dangbei has generously fitted a 10-watt speaker onto the device, which should be more than enough to fill a bedroom with adequate sound.
Probably the best thing about the C5 Pro is its price, with Dangbei asking for just 1,499 RMB in China, where it’s listed for sale online. That works out at around £165.
A lot less is known about the Dangbei C5 Ultra (above) and R3 Ultra Max (below), because we only have the graphics posted on Weibo to go by. However, they reveal a fair few specifications that suggest these are both more powerful and capable, and most definitely pricier options.
For instance, the C5 Ultra cranks the brightness up a fair bit to 1,300 CVIA lumens and supports content at 120Hz, though there’s no word on the image size or resolution. It also comes with a 25-watt speaker, and it can be had for just 1,999 RMB (around £221).
As for the R3 Ultra Max, the specifications are almost identical, with the only known difference being that brightness goes up to 1,800 CVIA lumens and the price to 2,799 RMB (around £309).
We don’t know if or when Dangbei will release these models globally, but the company does usually do this, so don’t be surprised if they start popping up at online retailers in the U.K., Europe and the U.S. in the coming weeks or months.
