Hisense dominated the market for 'super-sized' TVs in 2025

Hisense has strengthened its grip on the market for “super-size” TVs. For the third consecutive year, it was the world’s biggest seller of TVs in the 100-inch and above segment, according to a report from Omdia.

All told, Hisense commanded a 57.1% share of the market for TVs exceeding 100-inches, Omdia said.

Hisense said its aggressive expansion into the ultra-large TV category is being driven by two forces Laser TVs and RGB Mini-LED backlight systems. In the Laser TV segment, Hisense commanded a 70.3% global market share in 2025, stretching its leadership in the category to almost 10 years.

Of course, Hisense’s Laser TVs aren’t real TVs at all – they’re projectors, which is why the emergence of its RGB Mini-LED TVs, which feature an RGB-LED panel, are such a critical development. Along with Samsung, it pioneered the first RGB-LED TVs last year when it debuted its massive 116UX model, which offers greater brightness and higher colour volume than traditional Mini-LED TVs. These are key factors that ensure high-quality images when stretching pictures over such a vast canvas.

This year, Hisense is planning to expand its RGB Mini-LED lineup with the upcoming UR9 and UR8 series TVs, which will be available in sizes ranging from 55-inches to 100-inches. There will also be a new flagship in the shape of the 116UXS, which is said to be the first TV of its kind powered by “RGB Mini-LED evo” technology, delivering higher luminance and superior dimming zone control.

Hisense UK’s head of strategy Robert Andrews told HDTVTest that the trend towards cinematic experiences is picking up pace, as more consumers opt for larger screens. He said the 2026 FIFA World Cup finals is likely to motivate even more consumers to buy 100-inch-plus TVs this year.

“The increased demand for Hisense large-screen and Laser TVs is reflected both globally and in the UK,” Andrews said, highlighting the company’s goal of delivering premium specs at more competitive price points than traditional OLED or high-end LCD rivals.
