Hisense is taking aim at big screen entertainment enthusiasts once again with the launch of its new C3 TriChroma laser projectors, which are now on sale in the USA. They’re exceptionally bright, based on RGB laser technology, feature gimbal-based positioning for enhanced flexibility and they can project massive images of up to 300-inches, the company said.
RGB laser technology is different from conventional projection systems because it uses separate red, green and blue laser diodes as direct light sources instead of relying on colour wheels, phosphor wheels or filters to convert light from a single source into different colours. It provides much more realistic colour reproduction, enabling more accurate, true-to-life images.
Hisense USA’s chief commercial officer and deputy general manager David Gold said the company has spent years investing in its RGB laser tech. “We believe colour is fundamental to a great viewing experience,” he explained. “We first pushed that vision forward through laser, and the expertise we built there helped open the door to RGB innovation across our broader display portfolio.”
There are three models in the new projector family, including the Hisense C3 Pro, the Hisense C3 Ultra and the Hisense C3 Ultra Max. According to Gold, they’re designed with flexible projector placement and simplicity in mind, with a bunch of automated setup features.
Hisense said all three models can reproduce an impressive 118% of the BT.2020 colour gamut, which should mean they’re especially good when used with HDR content, capable of preserving the finest textures and details in the brightest, most vibrant parts of the image. Dolby Vision is supported, along with IMAX Enhanced.

They also feature a seven-level adjustable iris and have a 5,000:1 native contrast ratio, which should further help to enhance black levels and shadow detail, while the integrated anti-glare technology will help to combat the effects of ambient light. That, combined with their incredibly high brightness, should ensure almost perfect pictures even when viewing films in the daytime, Gold said.
The brightest of the bunch is the C3 Ultra Max, which delivers 5,000 ANSI lumens of brightness thanks to its use of four-dedicated imaging chips. It also comes with a 2x optical zoom to enhance placement flexibility. The C3 Ultra follows with 4,000 ANSI lumens and also uses four dedicated imaging chips, while the C3 Pro is capable of 3,000 ANSI lumens. The latter two models both have a 1.6x optical zoom.
On all three models, you’ll find an integrated gimbal stand that makes them very easy to position and find the sweet spot in terms of placement, regardless of room size. Other setup features include automatic keystone correction, screen adaptation, autofocus and obstacle detection and avoidance. As for the audio, each model has an integrated 56-watt 2.1-channel Devialet-tuned speaker system on board.

The projectors are all on sale in the U.S. now via Hisense, Amazon and Best Buy, with the C3 Pro priced at $2.,499, the C3 Ultra tagged at $2,999 and the C3 Ultra Max costing $3,999.
Hisense has already launched all three models in the U.K., and they can be purchased from Hisense directly or retailers including Richer Sounds and Audio Affair. The Hisense C3 Pro is listed at £1,999, the Hisense C3 Ultra costs £2.,499 and the Hisense C3 Ultra Max carries a £3,499 price tag.
