Hisense is giving parents a helping hand with the addition of a new “Safe Streaming” remote control designed to prevent kids from watching inappropriate content.
The remote was designed and built with the assistance of a company called A Parent Media Co.. which is the operator of the kids-oriented Kidoodle TV service. As part of the collaboration, it’s integrating its safe-streaming service directly with Hisense’s Vidaa operating system, TechRadar reported.
Instead of going through each streaming application and trying to prevent kids from seeing the dodgy shows and movies that they’re not old enough to view, the new remote gets rid of them altogether. It allows kids to watch thousands of kids TV shows and cartoons through the Vidaa Kids app, and even has voice controls so all they have to do is hit the button and ask for favourites such as Spongebob Squarepants, PAW Patrol: Pup Tales, Baby Shark and so on. All told, there are more than 50,000 episodes accessible through it.
While many parents are anti-screens, the ability to be able to park a toddler in front of an episode of PAW Patrol while you’re cooking up breakfast, getting the laundry on or if you just need a break for 10 minutes can be a godsend. However, it can be risky to leave those kids unattended for too long, because if they start fiddling with the remote, you never know what they might start watching. They might end up screaming in fear after stumbling across a horror movie, or asking awkward questions about why two adults are getting it on in the hay!
Hisense is making life for parents much easier. Instead of having to go through each streaming app and setting up the parental controls to prevent kids from accessing inappropriate content, mum and dad can simply hand them the Safe Streaming remote and leave them to it.
With the remote, kids can simply open the Vidaa Kids app and nothing else, so there’s no more risk of them stumbling across something they shouldn’t be watching.
Hisense said it includes the Safe Streaming remote with all of its premium 2026 TVs, including the RGB MiniLED and standard MiniLED models, such as the UR9S, UR8S, U7S PRO, U7S and the E8S. However the remote will only be shipped with models that run Vidaa OS, not Google TV, so that excludes any Hisense TVs in the U.S. In the U.K. and Europe, all of Hisense’s 2026 TVs will run the Vidaa OS platform.
