Hisense's new U7SG TV goes after gamers with its 330Hz refresh rate

Hisense is targeting video game enthusiasts with its newest 4K Mini-LED TV, combining incredible brightness with blazing-fast refresh rates and massive screen sizes.

The new TV in question is the Hisense U7SG, and it’s launching in the U.S. first of all. While Hisense already has a number of televisions with gamer-friendly features, this model looks to step things up a notch, adding a special “Game Booster” mode that cranks up the refresh rate beyond what the panel is natively capable of achieving.

Hisense said the U7SG comes with a native 165Hz panel, but when users activate Game Booster, it will drop the resolution to 1,080p and double that refresh rate to 330Hz, making it better able to handle fast-paced action games. The display features support for AMD FreeSync Premium Pro, as well as VRR and Auto Low-Latency Mode.

It’s bright too. Hisense quotes a peak brightness of 3,000 nits, which means it should easily be able to handle the glare of sunsplashed living rooms. The colour reproduction is handled by Hisense’s Hi-QLED Colour+ system and Pantone validation, and there’s a Hi-View AI Engine Pro processor inside that uses AI algorithms to analyse individual scenes and optimise the colour, contrast and sharpness of the picture during playback.

The Hisense U7SG also comes with a pair of multi-channel speakers that support Dolby Atmos for immersive sound effects. The audio capabilities vary depending on the size of the TV. The smaller options, between 55-inches and 85-inches, come with a 2.1.2-channel speaker set up that provides up to 50-watts of sound output. Meanwhile, the 100-inch model cranks that up to 60 watts. There’s an even larger 116-inch model too, which comes with a spectacular 6.2.2-channel sound system with 110-watts of sound. Along with Dolby Atmos, DTS:X sound is also supported.

Google TV is the onboard operating system, which means you’ll have access to all of your favourite streaming apps. On the back, you’ll find a healthy four HDMI 2.1 ports, along with two USB-A connectors, a LAN port and an optical audio output. In terms of design, the U7SG sports a slim, unibody chassis and there are various stand options, depending on the size.

Although the Hisense U7SG is listed on the company’s U.S. website, we have been unable to find any listings on retailers so far, which means we don’t know anything about pricing so far. However, we fully expect it to become available imminently. The TV is likely to launch in the U.K. too later this year, however it may well be branded with a different model number.
