If you’ve been looking for an excuse to watch all of the World Cup action in stunning ultra high-definition (UHD), LG Electronics may have just given you one. The South Korean firm has announced that, for a limited period only, it’s giving away a free LG G Pad 8.3 tablet with each purchase of one of its latest 4K and OLED TV models in the United Kingdom.

LG offer

Tying its special offer to the 2014 Brazil World Cup makes perfect sense for LG. Pay TV providers like British Sky Broadcasting (BSkyB) already make extensive use of second-screen apps, allowing viewers to enhance their experience of the match by viewing replays from different angles, and accessing stats about the players and teams. As such, a shiny new G Pad with its 8.3″, full HD display is an essential companion for anyone who’s planning to feast themselves on this summer’s soccer spectacular.

That’s not to say LG’s offer is targeted at footy fans only – the promotion is open to anyone who buys one of the brand’s qualifying TVs before the cut-off date. This includes its flagship 84″ LG Ultra HD 4K TV, as well as its 79-inch, 65-inch, 55-inch and 49-inch 4K televisions, and also two OLED models – the LG 55EA980W curved OLED television, and the 55EA880W 55in “Gallery” flat-panel OLED display.

LG’s offer runs from now until Thursday the 12th June, when Brazil kicks off the opening match of the tournament against Croatia in the Arena de São Paulo. However, buyers be warned that you’ll need to submit your claim for a free LG G Pad 8.3in tablet within 30 days of making your purchase.
