Loewe's luxurious Stellar OLED TV now available in 97-inches

Loewe is going large with the latest version of its luxury 4K Stellar OLED TV, launching a mammoth 97-inch model to sit alongside the smaller 42-, 48-, 55-, 65-, 77- and 83-inch versions.

The Stellar OLED TV is Loewe’s flagship television these days and one of the most unique and luxurious that money can buy, featuring a novel concrete back panel, brushed aluminium frame and ambient lighting effects that truly set it apart from the crowd.

The TV was designed, engineered and assembled at Loewe’s manufacturing plant in Kronach, Germany, with all of the due care and attention that such a stylish and solid-looking television deserves.

The magic.light system on the Stellar OLED TV appears to have been inspired by Philips’ Ambilight system, but unlike that iconic feature, it does not react dynamically to what’s happening on the screen. Instead, it’s a simpler affair, with a single light bar that delivers an ambient glow in a range of customisable colours.

Other design features include a concealed connection panel with built-in cable management, and a hidden wall-mount bracket that enables it to be installed almost flush with the wall.

One thing to bear in mind is that the 97-inch version of the Stellar OLED TV does not feature the same Micro Lens Array panel found on the smaller models, nor does it replace this with LG Display’s latest fourth-generation RGB Tandem OLED panel. LG’s Micro Lens array panels max out at 77-inches, and so that means buyers will be stuck with an earlier-generation OLED.EX panel, which is the second-generation of OLED displays, the same as the one found on LG's 2023 G3 OLED TV.

That said, it should still be pretty good, because unlike other OLED TV manufacturers, Loewe always seeks to put its own imprint on the displays. Rather than purchase finished panels from LG Display, it acquires open-cell versions that can be customized to meet its higher standards for colour and image quality.

As a result, the company promises that the 97-inch Loewe Stellar OLED will provide an “exceptional visual performance with 1,100 nits peak brightness, extraordinary contrast and astonishing detail”. It also mentions support for Dolby Vision IQ, and it should be well capable of displaying such content in glorious detail.

In terms of audio, Loewe says there are six integrated speakers that deliver a total sound output of 300-watts that are carefully packaged in acoustic fabric to enhance clarity. Dolby Atmos surrond sound is supported.

The TV runs what is believed to be a customised version of Hisense’s Vidaa operating system, but it has been rebranded as Loewe os9. In any case, it’s a pretty solid piece of software, featuring all of the big streaming apps, plus cloud gaming applications such as Boosteroid and Blacknut. Because the TV is designed to be wall mounted, it conveniently also displays artworks when not in use thanks to its Art Mode. Users can download various artworks from Loewe’s art store, or use the TV to display their own photos.

There’s also a big splash of AI, with AI-powered content suggestions and AI “comfort” features also onboard, but it’s not clear exactly how they work, or what they do.

The 97-inch Loewe Stellar OLED TV is a premium model in every way and it looks fantastic, even before you switch it on, but such dazzling beauty comes at a steep cost. The company is asking for a €29,999, and although we don’t yet have any confirmation of U.K. pricing, that would amount to approximately £26,000.

In any case, it’s going on sale later this month, so we won’t have long to find out.
