The U.K.’s top homegrown TV brand Mitchell & Brown says it’s looking to fill a niche in the market with the launch of a new series of smaller-sized televisions with premium technology and features.
The company’s new 7 Year Elite Full HD QLED TVs are available in 32-inches and 40-inches, making them some of the smallest models around that come with Quantum Dot-enabled displays and the brighter and richer colours associated with that tech.
Okay, so we’re still waiting for 4K OLED and Mini-LED to come to bedroom TVs, but it’s a move in the right direction. Mitchell & Brown says it’s launching the new models so that consumers no longer have to settle for decades-old LCD TVs with limited smart features when buying a second TV set for their bedroom or kitchen.
That said, buyers can still go bigger if they wish, for the company is also launching 50-, 55- and 65-inch versions of the same TV, though these bigger displays get a 4K resolution display instead.
Mitchell & Brown said the quantum dots are key to the 7 Year Elite Full HD QLED TVs’ superior picture performance, as the technology enables enhanced colour reproduction compared to standard LCD TVs. They also support Dolby Vision and HDR10, while sound is made more immersive with Dolby Audio.
Like many new TVs sold in Britain these days, the Mitchell & Brown 7 Year Elite Full HD QLED models come with Freely pre-installed, so users can stream all of their favourite content from U.K. broadcasters like the BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5. They run the TiVo operating system, which means global streaming apps such as Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and YouTube are also onboard. In terms of design, the new models look the part too, with ultra-slim bezels and a central pivot-style stand. According to the company, the stand helps with “practical flexibility, allowing viewers to adjust the screen to the perfect angle” no matter where it’s placed.
On the back of the TVs, users will find multiple HDMI ports and USB connectors, plus outputs for headphones and digital audio. They also support Bluetooth and WiFi.
As the name suggests, the TVs come with a seven-year warranty that has actually become standard with all Mitchell & Brown televisions, and the company said this will be honoured by independent retailers in its network, or else customers can contact its own service team at its headquarters in Bolton.
Mitchell & Brown said the TVs are available to buy now at select retailers, starting at just £309 for the 32-inch JB-32Q1811 and £379 for the 40-inch JB-40Q1811. The 43-, 50- and 55-inch models are also on sale now, priced at £429, £459 and £539 respectively.
The only one not currently on sale is the largest 65-inch model, but Mitchell & Brown said it will be made available soon. The price of that model has not yet been revealed.
