With the likes of Samsung Electronics, LG Electronics and Sony having already announced their latest generation of smart TVs for 2025, today it’s the turn of Panasonic, which has just revealed its full lineup of OLED and Mini-LED models destined for the U.K. market.
Panasonic’s flagship models for 2025 include the hotly-anticipated Z95B OLED TV and the W95B Mini-LED TV, which come with enhanced panels that promise to deliver stunning pictures that supersede the quality of their predecessors.
The Panasonic Z95B replaces last year’s highly-rated Z95A, which was regarded as one of the best OLED televisions money could buy, and it should deliver a noticeable improvement thanks to the inclusion of LG Display’s next-generation Primary RGB Tandem panel.
Meanwhile, the Panasonic W95B ups the ante with an improved Mini-LED panel that features two-and-a-half times as many local dimming zones as last year’s W95A television, with the promise of better contrast and deeper blacks.
Once again, all of Panasonic’s higher-end TVs will run a customized version of Amazon’s Fire TV operating system, which last year replaced the company’s homegrown My Home Screen software.
Loyal Panasonic fans have been eagerly awaiting the launch of the company’s newest flagship OLED model ever since it was first unveiled at CES in January. Back then, the company talked about how LG Display’s new Primary RGB Tandem panel utilises a four-layer emission structure to increase colour purity and refine the wavelength of light, improving efficiency by around 40%.
It’s a big improvement, and Panasonic said this will result in significantly higher brightness and a wider colour volume, meaning more realistic pictures. To learn more, watch this video where HDTVTest's Vincent Teoh discusses the improvements:
Of course, Panasonic’s flagship OLED model isn’t the only TV that sports the latest-generation OLED tech, as the same panel will be seen in LG’s G5 OLED and Philips’ OLED+950 and OLED+910 TVs. But the Panasonic Z95B is unique in that it’s the only model to incorporate the company's proprietary ThermalFlow system, inspired by racecar aerodynamics to improve the thermal airflow structure of the TV. The system optimises the placement of components and vents to dissipate heat much more effectively, ensuring the Z95B maintains peak panel performance and consistently high brightness.
The Z95B, which will be available in 55-, 65- and 77-inch sizes, also comes with the company’s latest HCX Pro AI Processor Mk II chipset, which supports various AI-powered picture enhancements such as Precision Detail for Dolby Vision content. There’s also a new Prime Video Calibrated Mode, which no doubt stems from Panasonic’s agreement to use Fire TV. It’s said to optimise the picture settings specifically for each Amazon Prime Video movie or show, adjusting parameters such as brightness, motion smoothing and colour temperature to match the content genre.
Other features include the return of Calman and ISFccc support, which means customers will be able to use professional calibration software to fine-tune the colour accuracy and squeeze out even truer-to-life visuals. The audio system is more powerful too. The Z95B is the first to feature the updated 360° Soundscape Pro system, which introduces spatial audio and a more expansive speaker array layout, with front-firing, upward firing, and side speakers optimised for wider sound dispersion and personalised sound placement. There’s also an integrated subwoofer, which cranks up the total audio output to 30 watts.
If you’re looking for something more smaller or perhaps, just more affordable, the step down Panasonic Z90B (above) is a compelling option, coming with many of the same features found in the Z95B. It’ll be sold in 42- and 48-inches in addition to the larger options, and it’s powered by the same HCX Pro AI Processor MK II chipset. The 55", 65" & 77" Panasonic Z90B will be equipped with an "OLED Master Pro" panel which is a high-specced OLED.EX panel.
The sound system has also been scaled back, ever so slightly. While it also delivers a total of 30-watts thanks to its integrated subwoofer, it’s based on Dynamic Theater Surround Pro technology instead of the premium 360° Soundscape Pro system found in the Z95B. Apart from that, the features are much the same, with the panel supporting 144Hz refresh rates, Dolby Vision, HDR10+, HDR10 and gaming features like VRR and ALLM.
A third OLED option is the Panasonic Z80B, featuring a standard OLED panel and available in 48-, 55- and 65-inch size options. Descriobed as an entry-level option into the world of OLED, it’s powered by the less sophisticated HCX Processor and it’s limited to 120Hz refresh rates, but still more than capable of delivering vibrant, realistic colours, powerful sound and smooth lag-free gaming
Panasonic’s 2025 Mini-LED lineup is headed up by the W95B (above), which is the successor to last year’s W95A. It’s available in the same three sizes as the Z95B OLED TV, as well as a larger 85-inch size option, and if anything, it should deliver even more substantial improvements in picture quality compared to the model it replaces.
With significantly more dimming zones than earlier models, the Panasonic W95B should enhance the contrast ratio to unprecedented levels while getting very close to the kind of perfect blacks associated with OLED. Thanks to the power of the HCX Pro AI Processor MKII, the W95B also promises much superior backlight control than the W95A, while the Precision Detail feature found in the Z95B is also present, helping to boost HDR quality.
Of course, the W95B TV is perfect for gamers, with support for 4K 144Hz graphics and VRR, ALLM, Dolby Vision, AMD FreeSync Premium and Nvidia G-Sync all included.
The next-best Mini-LED in Panasonic’s lineup is the W93B series (above), which comes with a 144HZ HDR Bright Panel Pro. That means fewer local dimming zones than the W95B, but it’s one of the few sacrifices made to boost affordability, as the TV boasts the same HCX Pro AI Processor MK II processor and an improved backlight control system. There’s also a 4K Remaster Engine present, which helps to improve the quality of video streamed content from services like Amazon Prime and Netflix by reducing noise levels. Buyers will also have smaller options available, with sizes ranging from 43-, 50-, 55- and 65-inches.
As with the OLED models, the W95B and W93B are both Calman Ready, allowing enthusiasts to tinker with the picture and ramp up the realism.
There’s also a third Mini-LED model in Panasonic’s lineup in the shape of the W85B television, which comes with an “enhanced 120Hz LED panel” and the older HCX processor.
