Pioneer PDP5080XD Review

Pioneer PDP5080XD

Andrew has completed his Pioneer PDP5080XD review. Looking ahead, we would really like to test the new 1080p Kuros like Pioneer PDP-LX508D and Pioneer PDP-LX608D, but unfortunately there is a long lead time from our regular supplier. Pioneer hasn’t responded to my request for a review sample as well.

For those of you looking for some mid-week entertainment, head over to my Samsung LE40M86BD settings post (from comment #38 onwards) where there was a sudden flurry of activity today despite the post being written back in April.

Turns out that neil, jon and frank were all posting from the same IP address. Who knows what they are/ he is up to. :)

  1. Best review so far. Nice and critical.

  2. No problems deinterlacing 1080i? Finnish technology magazine Tekniikan Maailma tested sister model PDP-LX508D and it had problems with 1080i. 1080i created thing they called “micro judder” in scenes with movement. Problem was gone when they tested same material with sony 55″ rptv. It seems weird that they put out two models of so high end TV with minimal price difference.

  3. We haven’t seen the PDP-LX508D, but my PDP-508XD deinterlaced 1080i to 1080p without any problem. Could the microjudder be caused by using [Drive Mode] 1 on PAL video content?

  4. Im no geek or anything professional but my money seems the same when buying the product……….after almost 12 months of family viewing and also comparing with other plasma tvs mainly Samsung of different models the Pioneer out shone them all hands down….top product no sweat……
