Samsung's The Frame morphs into The HiFi Frame

Samsung Electronics is facing lots of competition in the niche art gallery TV segment, with rivals like Hisense and TCL launching alternatives to The Frame and now even LG Electronics looking to upset the applecart with its new LG Gallery+ art store.

Samsung’s response? It has decided to team up with the Danish audio equipment brand Canvas to create a new version of The Frame with an integrated sound system that promises to blow all of its rivals out the water – both in terms of sound quality and looks.

It’s called the The HiFi Frame, and it combines Samsung’s The Frame TV with a Canvas audio system into a single, aesthetically beautiful art-inspired digital picture frame.

It was revealed at the IFA 2025 show in Berlin this week, where Canvas insisted that it’s much more than just a nice TV, and more of a “new way of thinking about home entertainment,” being an “invitation to a universe of design, simplicity and cultural relevance”.

Samsung, for its part, said The HiFi Frame combines the industry’s best picture and best sound quality into a single design, enhancing the already highly-regarded The Frame TV.

It’s almost as if The Frame is evolving from a display that showcases works of art, to being a work of art itself. It’s really just a luxury version of The Frame, featuring various Kvadrat textile designs on the enormous speaker panel at the bottom, and an optional handcrafted wooden lamella front that’s available in a choice of responsibly-sourced mahogany, oak or walnut.

The job of Canvas is to deliver a more immersive audio experience for your digital picture frame TV, and its integrated soundbar comes with a pair of 6.5-inch woofers and two eight-inch SB Acoustics passive radiators that work together to replicate the effect of a single 12-inch subwoofer, without needing a physical sub.

Canvas’s proprietary BridgeBrace technology helps to suppress resonance, while there are four independent amplifiers on board to power the speakers, plus Burr-Brown DAC and precision DSP. Features include intelligent room correction to optimise the sound quality based on the layout of the room, and there’s also a crosstalk cancellation system to enhance the three-dimensional soundstage, making it wider, taller and deeper.

One of the intriguing things is that Canvas’s sound system isn’t just being combined with The Frame, but also Samsung’s high-end 8K resolution QN900D Neo QLED TV. The HiFi Frame is available in sizes ranging from 55-inches to 85-inches, so the equivalent sized models of The Frame and the QN900D fit inside it perfectly, creating a single, unified product. It can be wall mounted, as The Frame is meant to be, or alternatively the QN900D HiFi Frame can also be stood on the floor.

Samsung said The HiFi Frame TV will go on sale in “selected stores” next month, but it won’t be cheap. The most affordable model will start at €5,000 (around £4,340) and cost almost twice as much if you want the biggest version with the most luxurious wooden finish.
