Samsung teases Music Studio speaker system and new soundbars

Samsung has given us a first look at its new soundbars for 2026, which will launch alongside a more traditional 3.1.1-channel speaker that can be wirelessly connected to its TVs to create a wider and more immersive surround sound experience.

The most interesting thing here is Music Studio 7, which is the official name of the aforementioned speaker, featuring front, left and right channels along with an upward-firing unit to enhance Dolby Atmos sound effects. The company said customers will be able to buy multiple speakers and link them all to the TV at the same time to create a more expansive soundstage, similar to how Sonos operates with its soundbars and external speakers.

Samsung said the Music Studio 7 speakers are paired with its TVs via its Q-Symphony system, which allows external units to work in concert with the TV’s built-in speakers and Samsung soundbars to create more atmospheric sound effects.

All told, users will be able to connect up to five Music Studio 7 speakers to their Samsung TVs. Once they're all hooked up, Samsung’s Q-Symphony will analyse the layout of the room and the speaker configuration in order to optimise sound distribution.

“The feature can also automatically adjust sound based on your room, helping calibrate for optimal performance,” the company promised. “The result is clear dialogue and detailed surround sound, making you feel like you are in the middle of the scene.”

Music Studio 7 appears to build on a similar concept that Samsung briefly tested last year when it launched the Music Frame, a quirky multi-purpose wireless speaker that looks like a small picture frame. Music Frame could also be linked to Samsung’s TVs via Q-Symphony and it was quite versatile, with the potential to act as a rear speaker, a bass speaker or front speaker, working in tandem with the TV’s own sound system. It was an interesting idea, but it never really took off, perhaps because the design concept was too odd, or maybe it just wasn’t powerful enough – something that is being corrected with the new product.

Samsung said it will also launch a smaller speaker called the Music Studio 5, but it did not provide any details on this product.

What it did say more about was its 2026 soundbars, including the flagship HW-Q990H, which will replace this year’s HW-Q990F. Sadly, it doesn’t appear to be a massive upgrade, although it does add a new Auto Volume feature that will work to ensure the volume remains consistent across all media sources.

Like the HW-Q990F, the HW-Q990H is an 11.1.4-channel system, with the soundbar itself having 7.0.2-channels and the two rear speakers being 4.0.2. There’s also a separate 8-inch subwoofer included in the package.

The company also unveiled a new all-in-one soundbar that’s called the Samsung HW-QS90H, featuring an integrated subwoofer and a novel design that supports both wall mounting and free-standing on a table. It’s a 7.1.2-channel system featuring a built-in gyro sensor that will optimise the sound based on placement.
