TCL's C855K and C805K Mini-LED TVs launch in U.K. retailers

TCL has announced the U.K. availability of its highest-end 2024 televisions, including the flagship TCL C855K Mini-LED TV with unprecedented brightness, the step-down C805K Mini-LED TV, and the more affordable C745K, C655K and P7*K series TVs. They can all be purchased at the Euronics UK store, both in-person and online.

The TCL C855K mini-LED TV is the successor to last year's popular C845. It was first unveiled in April, when the company said it will be available in sizes ranging from 65 to 98 inches with up to 3500 nits peak brightness. TCL's North American lineup currently consists of several identical models, but they are marketed under different model names.

According to TCL, the C855 features a miniLED backlight similar to the C845K, but it has significantly increased the number of dimming zones to 1,344, 2,160, 2,304, and 3,160 in the 65, 75, 85, and 98-inch models, respectively. That’s more than double the number of dimming zones of the predecessor, though still fewer than TCL’s highest-end TV, the TCL X955 that’s only on sale in the U.S.

Last year's C845 was advertised as being capable of achieving 2,000 nits, but the C855 can hit up to 3,500 nits, according to TCL.

The TCL C855K runs the Google TV operating system, features built-in Chromecast, has 4K resolution, is fitted with two HDMI 2.1 ports, has a 144Hz VA LCD panel with support for VRR and FreeSync, and sound is delivered through a powerful 2.2.2-channel Onkyo speaker system with support for Dolby Atmos and DTS:X surround sound. Dolby Vision HDR at up to 120Hz, IMAX Enhanced certification and a slim design round out the feature list. The TV is powered by TCL’s most advanced AiPQ Pro processor.

As for the TCL C805K, this is another extremely powerful 4K QLED Mini-LED TV, though it doesn’t quite hit the same heights in picture quality, with brightness scaled back to 1,500 nits and local dimming zones reduced to just over 500, but otherwise, it has everything the flagship has to offer. It’s available in smaller sizes, including 50-inch and 55-inch models, as well as the larger sizes offered for the C885K.

The more affordable TCL C655K series is a regular 4K QLED TV, without the Mini-LED-based local dimming zones, with the smallest size dropping to just 43-inches, up to a max of 98-inches. There’s also the new TCL C745K series, available in just three sizes - 55-, 65- and 75-inches, and the TCL P7*K series, in sizes ranging from 43-inches to 98-inches. Finally, the most affordable of the lot is the new entry-level TCL S5400 Series, with sizes of just 32-inches and 40-inches.
