TCL is offering consumers in the market for a second screen a range of options in the sub-£300 price range with the launch of its new SF560K QLED TVs.
The Full HD models come in 32-, 40- and 43-inch sizes, the company said, and they’re available now on Amazon.com and in other online stores.
For sure, if you’re looking for something superior with 4K resolution and higher-end features, the TCL SF560K TV is probably not for you. But for those who just want a smaller and more affordable second screen, perhaps to go in the bedroom or kitchen, then it may well be a pretty good choice.
The SF560K sits alongside TCL’s previously-announced P Series TVs and the even-smaller SF540K, offering a Direct LED 2K display with 60Hz refresh rates and an QLED panel. That means you’ll be getting all of the benefits of quantum dot-enhanced colours, which should ensure pretty decent image quality for a TV of this size. The company also promised enhanced energy efficiency, support for HDR10 and Dolby Audio and DTS:X surround sound.
As with most of TCL’s lower cost models, the SF560K runs the Fire TV operating system instead of Google TV, which is found on its more premium sets. But Fire TV is every bit as capable as that platform, providing access to all of the major streaming apps. It’s also one of the first TVs in the U.K. to come with the Freely app pre-installed, meaning you’ll get both live and catch-up content from British broadcasters such as the BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5.
Also included is an Alexa-enabled voice remote for vocal controls of the TV, and this is compatible with various other smart home devices that can be linked to, and controlled via the TV.
TCL said the SF560K costs £219 for the 32-inch model, £249 for the 40-inch version, and £299 for the largest 43-inch size, but the good news is they can temporarily be had even cheaper thanks to Amazon, which as slashed the price of the 32- and 43-inch versions to £159 and £229.
