Samsung Electronics has responded to a host of pre-CES 2026 announcements by its rival LG Display, giving us an early look at no less than five new gaming monitors that’ll join its Odyssey lineup in the new year.
The new monitors announced on Christmas Eve are headlined by the 32-inch Odyssey 3D, which is said to be the world’s “first 6K display with glasses-free 3D”, Samsung said.
The Samsung Odyssey 3D will offer a 165Hz refresh rate that can be boosted to 330Hz when Dual Mode is enabled, but of course that will mean dropping the resolution down to just Full HD. It also has a one-millisecond grey-to-grey response time, but the really big deal here is the 3D capabilities. According to Samsung, the LCD panel supports “optimised 3D effects” that will enhance aspects such as the terrain, distance and object separation that go “beyond 2D” when playing games. It promises a new level of realism that can perhaps give gamers a distinct advantage over their rivals.

Samsung said the 3D capabilities will work with any game, but certain titles have been optimised for the monitor, such as Stellar Blade and The First Berserker: Khazan.
Elsewhere, there’s a new monitor that’s designed for speed above all else. The 27-inch Odyssey G6 is said to be the world’s first 1,040Hz monitor, reaching that speed via Dual Mode. It’s based on an LCD panel that comes with a 600Hz native refresh rate, and is designed for pro gamers that need help tracking targets and seeing the finer details during high-speed movement. The high refresh rate is combined with adaptive-sync support that includes both Nvidia G-Sync and AMD’s FreeSync Premium for a smooth and responsive image.

For those who prioritise graphics quality above all else, the 32-inch Odyssey OLED G8 may well be the answer. It’s based on a 4K resolution QD-OLED panel with a 240Hz refresh rate and offers glare-free viewing thanks to its matte display coating. It’s VESA DisplayHDR True Black 500 certified, which should mean incredible contrast, although its brightness is capped at just 300 nits. There are HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort 2.1 connectors with up to 80 gigabytes-per-second bandwidth, and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro and NVIDIA G-Sync are both supported.
While the Odyssey OLED G8 sounds as if it’s going to be Samsung’s flagship OLED monitor this year, the company didn’t mention any specific details about the panel, which is somewhat surprising as many had been expecting the company to launch a new generation of QD-OLED. That’s not to say it won’t, for we’ll only know the panel’s true capabilities when the monitor is fully unveiled at CES next month.

Finally, Samsung has announced a pair of higher-resolution Odyssey G8 models based on LCD panels. The first is the 32-inch G80HS with 6K resolution and 165Hz refresh rates. There’s also a 27-inch, 5K resolution Odyssey G80HF that features Dual Mode tech, cranking the speed up to 360Hz in QHD.
Samsung has not yet said anything about pricing or availability, but we can expect to learn more in the next couple of weeks when CES 2026 swings around.
