In China, Xiaomi is one of the biggest TV brands of all, slugging it out with titans like Hisense and TCL for market share. But the company has developed something of a reputation for being more of a budget-friendly brand, whereas its rivals and another major name, Skyworth, are known for their premium models.
But that is about to change, for Xiaomi this week dropped an early teaser of its upcoming flagship model for 2027. It’s called the Xiaomi TV S Pro 2027 series, and while there are very few details at this time, the company did share that it will be equipped with a premium RGB LED display. It'll be the company's first ever featuring the more advanced display tech.
It announced a “blind reservation,” giving consumers a limited time to place a reservation for the TV when it launches next month. They’ve gotta pay 10 RMB, or around £10.90 at the current exchange rate, in order to receive the privilege of being one of the first to be able to buy the TV when it actually hits the market. In return for that deposit, they’ll also be given a free Xiaomi TV speaker and three-month membership to Xiaomi’s video streaming platform.
The blind reservation runs until September 1, and shortly after that date, it’s likely that Xiaomi will reveal more details about the Xiaomi TV S Pro 2027. Notebookcheck, which first spotted Xiaomi’s offer on the Chinese language platform Weibo, also reckons that the TV will find its way onto the global market, though there may be some differences to the model that’s sold in China.
In any case, at this stage no one really knows what they’ll actually be getting with the Xiaomi TV S Pro 2027, apart from that RGB LED panel. In its teaser, Xiaomi gives the full model name as the Xiaomi TV S Pro RGB-Mini LED 2027 Extreme Edition, which suggests it has opted to use the same marketing lingo as Samsung, LG Electronics and Hisense. That’s a massive upgrade compared to Xiaomi’s flagship S Pro Mini LED TV 2026 from last year, which was only equipped with a standard Mini-LED panel. It promises notable improvements in peak brightness, colour accuracy, contrast and more.
Xiaomi’s teaser also revealed that there will be a 100-inch version of the Xiaomi TV S Pro 2027, but we don’t know what other sizes will be available. But that’s bigger than last year’s series, which maxed out at 98-inches. The image supplied by Xiaomi suggests there’s not much difference in the overall design and aesthetics of the new model, though. Expect more details, including full specifications and pricing, to emerge sometime next month.
